There's a huge difference between "we have a policy disagreement but we live in a society with agreed upon laws that cede this power to you so I should follow those for the sake of unity and the rule of law" and "you are insisting I must yield to you while you blatantly abuse my friendly neighbors"

I recognize that the federal government, under US law, has control over international borders but I feel it is the definition of government overreach to suddenly start being arbitrarily cruel to our neighbors, who have done nothing but be friends, allies, and economic partners for years on end.
