Yes, it was an event to fly. I wore a suit as a 10 year old on a flight in the 1960s, reifying my parents' class aspirations. But it was also the case that I got to see the cockpit, received a wings button, had a meal, and the seats weren't 19th Century steerage. And Roy Rogers was on the flight.
