I think 50% of the left hating you is quite a low score among prominent leftists. But yeah. Not my circus, etc., but it's shit for everyone with vaguely leftist sympathies when stuff like this can't even get off the ground. People deserve to be able to express their views by voting!

I'm not an expert but not sure 'purity testing' is the right framing here. It's just a power struggle.

For all the usual reasons, plus also because the thing that will kill them is about 75% of their membership thinking "well if it all collapses I'll just go back to the swp, the greens, etc etc"

All of these qualms are true but I also think people teaching are broadly pretty well able to make comparisons between different cohorts where they have been teaching similar material over several recent years.
