Doting dad, w/🇨🇦🇺🇸 kiddos. Married amazingly.
Enthusiastic about solutions for climate & pandemic challenges.

Pro-ebikes. Pro-democracy. Anti-fascism. Pro-human rights. Anti-genocide.

Speaking only for myself.
✅ Voted! (last week)

And I received confirmation of my vote from BallotTrax just a few hours later.

Yes on California Prop 50, to responsibly counter fascist gerrymandering.

#NoKings march in Santa Cruz, California.

#Joyful crowd of at least 10,000:
Babies, toddlers, big kids
Doggos
Costumes included unicorns, pandas, giraffes
Bagpipes, ukuleles, drums

Police did a great job of respectfully keeping everyone (and their 1st Amendment rights) safe.

Multigenerational + multimodal. Powered by sunshine, the moon, and burritos.

Had a wonderful #kayak outing, including hauling a heavy sit-on-top sea kayak (+ three people, + gear) with a compact #EV.

Two hours' drive, left home with less than a full charge, & still returned with >50% charge.

No need for a truck. No need for a fossil fuel Subaru either.

This solar EV charging station collects enough free sunlight in 1 hour to propel this e-bike 100 joyful miles.

Over the summer, my tween transported himself to and from theater camp.

9 miles each way, up and over a mountain.

Enjoying the freedom that with previous generations used to require a car.

We went on a 32-mile-round-trip ebike ride to join a friend's neighborhood block party.

After we had our fill of tacos, bounce houses, face painting, and socializing, our bike ride home through the forest included owl and bat sightings.

Glad we skipped the car. Life is much better by bike.

When last I hauled a load to the local transfer station, they tried to deny me access for "liability reasons", because trucks are safe but bicycles are not(?). I pushed back diplomatically and persistently.

If you get denied, let's each take it up with Martinez.

Transportation ⚡️ to a conference:

Bulk of the trip: Compact EV, mostly charged by solar

Last mile: Compact ebike, also mostly charged by solar, & supplementally powered by burritos

🎉: sightseeing by ebike is the best!

👍: rockstar parking at the conference center. Bike racks mere feet away.

Spotted this heckin' rad orange e-bakfiets outside a grocery store at last weekend's No Kings protest in Fort Bragg, California.

Fantastic peaceful #NoKings protest with a turnout of at least 1,500 protestors in a rural town of 7,000 - primarily known for fishing, logging, & tourism. Not exactly a liberal bastion.

Responses were 250+ positive for every 1 negative.

Police were constructive, professional, and safety oriented.

Sometimes we need to haul bulky/heavy things beyond the range of an ebike+trailer, so I'm assembling a utility trailer to haul with our Chevy Bolt EV.

I was very happy to discover that the trailer kit packages fit easily in the back of the Bolt.

No need for a truck.

Hauling a kayak home by ebike after an extended loan to a friend. 15 miles round trip, and 1500ft of elevation gain.

My go-to ebike kayak trailer (from Moved By Bikes) is missing a key piece, so for this trip I improvised with some kayak straps and a Burley flatbed trailer.

A friend is moving to another country. Sad, but understandable.

Per his request, my littlest (& her bear) and I hauled some of my friend's extra kids' bikes to a local bike co-op for refurbishment & rehoming.

We used the Santa Cruz Rail+Trail for a blissfully car-free segment of the trip.

15+ mile ebike ride today with my niece and daughter.

Our journey included a redwood forest, a university campus, a farm, chickens, rainwater collection innovations, ice cream, and a koi pond.

Lucky kiddos. Lucky Dada.

That wooden one was custom built by a friend, who happily lent it to me. Since then I've bought my own.

One of my house-moves-by-ebike.

Clearly pictured: a heavy wooden clothes dresser. Not as clearly pictured, but clearly felt on the uphills: a metal fire-resistant safe box.

Now we can haul our #ebikes with our compact #EV!
