Perhaps mixed-member proportional (MMP) would be better fit for your concers; it uses thresholds to block extreme fringe parties while still giving fair representation to meaningful political groups.

.... Proportional representation works differently: it disperses power, ensures most votes translate into seats, and forces parties to cooperate to govern.

Also makes democratic breakdown harder.

Ranked ballots improve how winners are chosen, but they don't change winner-take-all politics. Because only one party still wins each seat, large numbers of voters remain unrepresented and political power stays concentrated....

But democracies using proportional representation (PR) tend to be more durable and resilient than those using first-past-the-post (FPTP).

Here are some challenges:

Coalitions are almost inevitable → can be unstable, slow to form, or prone to collapse.

More parties → more complexity, harder coalition negotiations.

Consensus-building slows down major changes.

I believe Canada should look at developing its own nuclear weapons to have an absolute deterrent to future American aggression. We must take control of our own future. Unstable America is not going away. This is probably a fifty year trend of instability we will be dealing with.
