Haha, I was like "it's a shame they don't actually work as portable air filters!" anyway let me know if they're good as actual headphones

I currently make my living doing both and I will say streaming is definitely more intensive because you're managing a room full of people talking at you and each other AND doing some form of actual content AND keeping up the energy for 3-4 times longer.

Like centrists who have always felt icky around the non-binary barista will always go “I KNEW IT!” and the consultant class love this narrative because it’s a group they can toss to the wolves without hurting any donor interests. But most people don’t care if you’re actually offering something.

I’m always a bit credulous when someone raises the unpopularity of trans people as the issue of 2024 when the War in Gaza and Joe Biden himself were way less popular and Harris stridently refused to distance herself from either, no GOP culture war sorcery needed.

I know Gilligan's shows are "slow burns" but Trek managed to tell this same story in 1 hr. Either joining the Pluribus entity is symbiotic or parasitic, and the show is flailing on keeping that tension. In the meantime it doesn't know if it's "The Good Place" or "The Walking Dead".

The Spores of Omicron Ceti 3 don't really seem to have a downside, everyone has all their memories and individual desires, it even heals them physically! While Pluribus' marketing doesn't back up the "bliss at what cost" premise, the not-virus absolutely enslaves, subsumes, and isn't really tempting

While Star Trek's take is a pretty naked denouncement of 1960s counterculture and their supposed "dereliction" of the human drive to strive/struggle/achieve (through modern eyes it's a really weak sell). It feels like Plur1bus doesn't quite know what the hivemind is supposed to represent.

Spent a month looking at the arc of the publishing industry and despite how much everyone loved and yearned for a strong reliable magazine/blog with a clear editorial voice… the idea of investing in that much overhead in “sharing amusing thoughts and discoveries” seems ludicrous now.
