So pay them well, #Canada. Give them what they're asking for and be appreciative of the people who keep physical mail moving because so much of our infrastructure is still reliant on hard copy.

Not everything needs to be profitable to have value.

And we haven't even touched on Lexx yet.

They're certainly a reason, though.

That's the frustrating thing about populists. His crowd is fully committed to turning us into the USA's low-budget, straight-to-dvd sequel, and they're fanatical about it. Hopefully, it will prove to be a much too vocal minority.

He still has a lot of support within the party, and this is (sadly) still an incredibly successful election for the Cons. There will be a leadership contest, but until we see the fallout in the coming days, I wouldn't dismiss his chances.

I really hope he gets the boot, though.

Pete nailed it, but I'm not so sure about Pete.

The US is the largest exporter of culture in the world, and we've been its biggest customers for a long, long time. There absolutely should be a concerted effort to diversify everything we bring in, including media.

I knew someone who misheard Saiyan as "saying" when being introduced to the dubbed anime. Consequently, they thought a Super Saying was just saying the name of the fighting technique even harder.

For what it's worth, I did not correct them. I can only hope they're still out there being adorable.

Whereas in the US, all speech is protected by the First Amendment, and only criminalized when it *directly* incites violence. To my understanding, it does not matter who the victim is or why.

Sorry if it seems pedantic, but it might be important after Monday's election. 2/2

The Charter grants us "freedom of expression" in Canada, which explicitly includes speech.

It's where we draw the line on protected speech that differs us from the US. We criminalize speech with the *intent* to incite violence/hatred toward an identifiable group, as well as speech that does; 1/2

The whole point of jailbreaking is that you don't need their permission. Otherwise, it's just out on parole.

It's not solidarity if it's only shown when people ask nicely. That's literally the opposite of solidarity.

I have no doubts this was a calculated move on Polievre's behalf, knowing he would lock in votes that he might have lost had he presented a costed platform at the same time as the other major parties. It reeks.
April 22, 2025 at 1:38 AM
Parties should have to release their costed platform before advanced voting begins, and if they don't, they're disqualified. If you can't put together a coherent costed platform by the time voters hit the polls, then you can't be trusted to hold critical positions in government.

Followed for the aquarium nerding, but wholeheartedly here for the comics now.

Trout Mask Replica is his best rock album of all time?! Tim Buckley on the same list as Type O Negative?!

This list is a wild ride. I'm here for it.
