Surely there has to be a solution where you can place a segment of vertical fencing between the platform columns

Lance Haver and his band of "consumer advocates" should explain why they're aligned with this POS

One must never forget the RER

This is the consequence of sticking with sunk costs and excavating out a station directly under City Hall instead of north of it as was proposed but never authorized

For the preservationist crowd, they will stop at nothing to ensure all possibly "deteriorated properties" will be demolished, with the Roundhouse first on the list (cc @hiddencityphila.bsky.social)

In an effort to remain one of the worst Councilmembers, Cindy Bass is filing an appeal to prevent the replacement of this non-historic 1940s airlite into 13 new homes, which is even by-right legal under zoning. This is why we have a housing crisis Mayor Parker!

I'm sorry why are there midblock bus stops 1000 ft apart flanking the one crosswalk in the vicinity? Are the traffic engineers that afraid of intersection delay? Ridiculous

"over the past century most of the vacant property in the city has been developed, the budget says"

Just like how @councilmemberjg.bsky.social hopes the courts will rule in her favor to build housing, I hope that future upzoning efforts by the Councilmember will enable housing to be built by-right without years of delays and legal risk. It's only the logical thing to do

Now that REM is open, it would be really cool to see the unused rail bridge on Île-Bigras converted to a trail, directly connecting the island and western Laval to Montreal on ped/bike.

In good SEPTA news, the 1234 Market storefront will be activated with a holiday popup store

The insinuation that city workers would not best represent Philadelphia, but that city officials would is pretty insulting TBH

Between this and Jobbers Canyon, Omaha was incredibly determined to downsize itself

If I'm ever a billionaire, I would rebuild Horticultural Hall in an instant
November 13, 2025 at 4:25 PM
Yup, for example it doesn't include the existing Olney bus lane or the Oregon one

Sure NYC has grown immensely, but I mean the report clearly found more demand to PHL. Looking at work commutes alone that's still the case, and from what you said, there are probably more non-work connections too. And meanwhile the Turnpike is expanding 476 to 3 lanes up to Allentown anyway
November 13, 2025 at 3:57 PM
Strange then that the rail connection to Philly which is 40 miles shorter than NYC & which LVPC found 2x as many people would travel, which has no freight service for decades, instead became a rail trail

Good news: City Hall bus and bike lanes got striped today despite the best efforts of Jay Young
Bad news: the Residence Inn on Juniper has instinctively started using it as valet parking hours after completion. Not camera-enforceable without adding Juniper to the list

Some good news for the Camden-Glassboro line today:
- DRPA board meeting reporting agreement with Conrail for further track sharing + bridge rebuild
- NJT board meeting setting up SNJ light rail entity to oversee River Line and any additional lines

Almost forgot: it's Frank Furness' birthday today. Have some pics of his Mt Airy and Gravers stations

Philly has one where the trail used to end but it doesn't even sort out nearby junctions
November 11, 2025 at 10:10 PM
That's because you need a ventilation plant at that length, which takes up the entire hole
November 11, 2025 at 7:22 PM
Yes since the 3000-series rollout. Is the marquee on the bottom enough to advertise it? Probably not
