Always pick things up, even if they don’t look particularly promising. One of my last finds from 2025, a broken piece of clay tobacco pipe stem showing a maker’s mark - a cockerel inside a diamond lozenge with the initials WR. Haven’t yet identified who made it but likely to be French or Dutch.
