I don't have an announcement for my next professional steps yet but plan to remain very much involved in the climate, resilience and environmental policymaking space. To all of my EPA and fed colleagues remaining I thank you for your continued service. I'll be watching and rooting for your success.

I've been incredibly fortunate throughout my federal career to work on impactful things -- seminal actions under the Clean Air Act, influential scientific assessments, international agreements -- and to be surrounded by wonderful, dedicated colleagues and mentors who helped me grow.

This was my 2nd time at EPA, capping 27+ yrs of fed service, including years in EPA's stratospheric protection and climate programs, a detail at the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy where I also served as deputy of USGCRP, and then at NOAA as deputy of the Climate Program Office.

The changing nature and frequency of wildfires, inland and coastal flooding, heat and drought threaten public health & welfare including by thwarting EPA's mission to provide clean air & water, and to provide cleanup of hazardous chemicals. With a change in priorities I felt the time was right.

Our office was charged with leading EPA's climate adaptation efforts and running the Smart Sectors program in which EPA collaborates with businesses and trade associations to find solutions to problems outside of the regulatory space and to serve as liaisons to different industrial sectors.
