A #budget to cut the cost of living, inflation & borrowing, boost public services, redistribute from old to young & capital to labour, while sticking to fiscal rules and increasing headroom has pleased the markets & Labour MPs. Quite a feat from an embattled chancellor. Now over to the public.

Important & overdue observation on how the unelected House of Lords are busy thwarting policies the Government was elected to implement. The perils of incomplete Lords reform.

As the first MP to raise concerns about Russian interference in the #Brexit referendum, my response to the jailing of Farage’s chum Nathan Gill for taking bribes to work for the Russian regime.
Government, what are you waiting for?

Nathan Gill’s sentencing should be the final wake-up call for Britain to take the threat of Russian interference seriously, says @benbradshaw.bsky.social

The jailing of Farage’s ex right hand man for working for the Putin regime is a final wake up call. With Britain & Europe facing our worst security threat since 1945 the Government must implement the 5 year old #Russiareport. Farage must answer: who introduced Gill to his Kremlin minder? #Brexit.

I see the outgoing leadership of the @equalityhumanright.bsky.social has leaked their post Supreme Court ruling draft guidance to their friends on the Times. Given how bonkers it is, thank goodness the Government hasn’t laid it. Back to the drawing board.

This is great news. Our police services should never have been politicised. PCC’s have been a costly waste, diverting resources from front line policing & leaving police chiefs constantly looking over their shoulders. Devon & Cornwall’s PCC has been a national exemplar of uselessness.

The BBC resignations are sad but inevitable after Panorama, a string of earlier scandals & failure to learn from them. The Board faces a huge but vital challenge to find someone to do the near impossible job of DG & save the BBC & public service broadcasting from the encircling sharks.

Not sure what these Labour MPs hope to achieve by talking to the Telegraph in these terms, except damage to the Government. They want more spending, no cuts, yet object to credible ways of raising money. Fantasy economics.

You'll have to ignore the buckets of anti-trans campaigning commentary in the piece, but the basic news is quite simple. The EHRC has failed to get the government to accept its anti-guidance in haste. Something is holding it up, perhaps for another a year www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...
