Bad Bunny really got the president to denounce a straight couple getting married on TV.

Gutted for all the good people getting cut at the Post, but also somewhat buoyed by how many people not employed in media are getting really really upset by newsroom cuts.

Grabbing Bad Bunny tracks off Youtube to mix into a superbowl interview and I'm getting bombarded with pre-roll ads from Kristi Noem urging people to self-deport. In English.

3 yrs ago I started writing a book that is in stores TODAY. It's narrative nonfiction, anti-fascist spy thriller set in Trump era. It's timely as hell & I'm proud of it.

A thread of what people are saying abt it & why I hope you'll help make it a bestseller www.simonandschuster.com/books/To-Cat...

Here is the User Guide for ELITE, the Tool Palantir Made for ICE
404 Media is publishing a version of the user guide for ELITE, which lets ICE bring up dossiers on individual people and provides a “confidence score” of their address.

Big swaths of the right have internalized a worldview in which society is a war of all against all, and government just a tool to make one in-group win. That's why they can't understand minor acts of solidarity. It's also why those acts have a political impact beyond just helping people.
A striking part of the reaction to ICE is the solidarity of those not under attack with those who are and the incomprehension of the right who think it's madness or secretly someone is paying and organizing, because self-organized determined resistance mystifies them.

Bit of an end-run around rent control here. Berkeley has a lot of ADUs old enough to be rent-stabilized.
When ADUs convert to condos, they're exempt from local rent control.
Local law gives tenants the right to stay, but they'd be subject to bigger rent hikes.

The problem with these bespoke power sources that political leaders embrace as a matter of ideology rather than practicality isn't that they're more expensive -- which they are -- but that they're simply not reliable.
15 GW of fossil power falling down on the job, leaving grandmas and babies to freeze in the dark across the mid-atlantic.

Can't count on these flaky, unreliable dinosaurs to show up when called. Truly useless garbage power sources.

Most immigration enforcement is a matter of *civil*, not criminal law. The masked goons in tactical camo who are out beating, gassing, disappearing, and executing people are supposedly trying to remedy *civil infractions.*

Shocked at how big the crowd is in Minneapolis. Don’t know an exact number but it’s in the many, many thousands. It is so cold your tears freeze to your face and your hands ache and yet people are here.

Can an attorney explain what's stopping the local DA from simply charging this officer with assault?
This video filmed by Ben Luhmann shows the moment a federal agent sprayed chemical irritants directly into a man's face in south Minneapolis.

Three agents already had the man pinned to the ground when a fourth agent walked up and sprayed the irritants.

I am curious what exactly the ICE officers in these videos could be prosecuted vs sued for vs fired for, because firm and specific campaign pledges to bring visit justice upon them should define the Democratic primary field and could save lives if they start getting made now.

One of the many, many ways people are fighting ICE in Minneapolis is helping neighbors safely shelter at home during a time when abductions are genuinely rampant.

People in Minneapolis are doing *so much* great work
This was incredible. We fed 40 families today. Thank you to @jchavezmpls.bsky.social for helping fundraise, @elitalksmpls.bsky.social for organizing with me, and the dozen people who helped us pack and shop. And thank you to everyone who donated. I have no words.

Since Noem became head of DHS and ICE further reduced standards for joining the agency while White House officials such as Stephen Miller demanded enforcement quotas, there has been a huge uptick in horrendous violence from ICE. This was predictable, yet it remains shocking and unacceptable.
