Love, grace, freedom, books, music, twirling in a field of flowers. Exploring faith after a spiritually abusive environment. God is far better than I'd realized. Rethinking everything. Trying to be more fun. I ❤ libraries.

I genuinely have no idea how to convey this to the American people, but I think the biggest impediment to any kind of immigration reform is that people are convinced that "legal" and "illegal" are immutable, intrinsic categories instead of a rapidly-shifting arbitrary constellation of regulations.

Yet another sports post that pulls double duty as political commentary about the current administration.

Three true statements:
My husband is a good man and I love him a bunch.
I am straight.
When I'm feeling significantly under the weather, I think it would be nice to have a wife.

Your daily reminder that being in the USA illegally is a misdemeanor, NOT a felony.
A video of ICE agents conducting door-to-door searches today in Minneapolis

The homeowner requests a warrant repeatedly, is told they don't require one, then is told they're getting it, then the agents storm in anyway

They also point a taser at her to try and disrupt filming

So let me see if I've got this right. According to Trump admin logic, Venezuela can come in and take Pete Hegseth to Venezuela & arrest him on charges of war crimes. They could bomb one of our buildings, kill civilians, and take Hegseth because he's broken the law. Do I have that right?

Their messaging is so fucking incoherent. Maduro was an illegitimate leader who lost in 2024, which is why we're replacing him with his VP instead of the person who won in 2024. We did this to stop fentanyl, which is why he's indicted for cocaine.

We're also occupying Venezuela via Zoom call.

The number of people in my Facebook feed who are congratulating and/or praising Trump for the actions re: Venezuela is mind boggling. Truly wild.

What a beautiful, joyous, collective moment.
I'm so glad this is the first video I've seen this year. What a great beginning.
What the KENNEDY Center used to be…

Remember that time Aretha Franklin performed at the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors, paying tribute to Carole King, who co-wrote “You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman,” and it brought a tear to Obama’s eye and everyone to their feet? And Carole King’s reaction. Wow.

Happy 2026!

Jesus entered and stood among them. He said, “Peace be with you.”

I’m not sure a bluegrass-infused saga across the Depression-era South will easily translate to Ancient Greece. But hey, Nolan’s a genius, he must have some kind of vision for it.

Today is the darkest day of the year.

We’ve all lived through our own nights—dark nights of the soul, when the Son seems absent and the shadows linger.

But I’m stubbornly hopeful that darkness never gets the final word. The light has come. And the darkness will not overcome it.

People I know in real life who have only ever defended or praised Trump on social media have been posting or commenting on other supporters' posts how inappropriate his post is.
Is anyone defending Trump’s vile post? I’ve only seen people speaking out against it or Mike Johnson saying he hadn’t heard about it.

You can do this right now:

Think of a person who wrote a paper you love, whose work influenced or helped you, or has made your professional life better.

Search up their email address. Shoot them a quick email of thanks. It means so, so much. This is a rough time of year, share some joy.

I zero percent ever would've imagined myself saying about Rand Paul and Thomas Massie, "Those men are my congressional representation" with anything other than disgust, yet here we are.

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. (Isaiah 9:2)

Advent begins.

Think of some truly evil people. People who hate God and everything holy—people you genuinely despise.

Now: Imagine them repenting and receiving grace and love from the LORD.

How would you feel about such lavish grace?

Angry? Disappointed? Frustrated? Cheated?

This is the book of Jonah.

Evergreen these days. Could refer to a number of things.
I'm assuming this time it's sports.

Speaking at church this Sunday, and every time I try to work on my sermon, my brain goes a dozen directions and won't focus anywhere.
Anyone wanna write this sermon for me? Or at least give me a topic?
Joking not joking.

When you demonize and mistreat the immigrant, the poor, the starving, and the marginalized, I'm not interested in hearing about your religious beliefs.

You've already shown me what they are by how you're demonizing and mistreating the immigrant, the poor, the starving, and the marginalized.
