My day job is something else. I am here to talk about the Andromeda project, Cybernetics, A.I., as well as videogaming and the Game Zero Magazine archives. I also voice opInions on retro tech, sci-fi, electronic music, and a wide range of media. Cheers!
If they're going to immediately owe $10,000-$20,000 I don't know how they will be able to afford to quit.

So far I've been happy with the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-7820. I had to get a new printer to replace our Brother MFC printers in field operations and so far no complaints. No subscription needed to use.

If you ever have the chance to try it, the first 3 WipeOut games all supported the NegCon, and if once you get your head around it the game play is some serious next level sh*t. The analog stick just doesn't even come close. =)

Having played literally all of them as they came out, I personally liked Rage Racer (with the NegCon controller) best followed by Ridge Racer for the PSP as the ultimate "best of" option.

Frankly I'm curious what happens in 3-5 years as all this data center equipment goes off cycle. Unless the companies go to pure recycling model we will have an incredible glut of computer hardware swamp the market.

One production run to one buyer, with no distribution costs, no inventory returns or unsold stock? Who cares if you (individual user) can't buy RAM now, you're a decimal point of a fraction on a balance sheet.
January 14, 2026 at 5:45 PM
This same dynamic is at play now in the fantasy money in B2B transactions around RAM, etc... why would a RAM supplier try to sell individual sticks of RAM to consumers with all that overhead when an institution will pay premium at volume that's still can be discounted...
January 14, 2026 at 5:45 PM
As this gap increases the incentive to sell B2c (small "c" for small consumer) at volume gets less and less strategic from a business perspective and literally not make sense from a profit model.

It isn't standard practice though. So many DVDs were just digitized from laserdisc, and Blu-ray's were upscaled from DVDs, so no it's not standard practice. Especially on older films unless they have already been under preservation.

Yeah but is it an upscale or rescan from the original prints. That's what needs included in these announcements.

So I have been a fan of Note Everything since forever ago but they recently added a subscription model for "pro" features (Old one time purchase pro users got grandfathered in for now), ymmv.

New fave QuickEdit Text Editor. Pro unlock is paid but worth it. Dead simple text editing.

My biggest concern in AI right now, specifically is in what I see in the research space that is the hyper focus on controlling LLM and the user inputs and being blind to the emergent agent that devlops temporarily between the LLM and the user. That's the real place for mischief.

And the assumption that you don't know what you're talking about is instant. Even if the presenter has decades of applied experience. (Not me, I have just witnessed this first hand, and not just in AI research).
