They’re right, and it’s not a bad thing. They do occupy that weird no man’s land where it was so huge but came with a big ol asterisk for anyone not in the know about what it was gonna be.

Everyone seems to think that steam’s business model is like patented or something but it’s not. Like steam invented the wheel and everyone else who’s looking to compete looks at that wheel and goes “this is brilliant… but what if it was square?”

No I agree. That’s the thing. When people talk about steam and their “monopoly” they’re just kinda adding to the misconception. GoG is a shining example of a launcher/storefront that figured it out. Epic, though? The loudest CEO in the world plus shit offerings just makes it a laughing stock.

The only reason why steam is a “pseudo monopoly” is because no one else has found a winning formula like they have. And also the one guy who wants to compete is too busy being the most unlikable person on the planet.
