Not sure if it's true, but I was told that Canadian French was less likely open to anglicized words, so we learned "l'ordinateur", while Parisian French would just say "le computer". Same with "le fin de semaine" vs. "le weekend".

Interesting! When I learned (largely Quebecoise) French in Canada in the 80's, we learned quatre vignt and quatre vignt dix.

My pet conspiracy theory (I don't really believe this, but...) is that they provide sub-optimal routes to everyone else to clear the path for their Waymos.

Like many Google products, the directions Maps provides have gone downhill in the past couple of years. I've been given directions in SF that are 20+ minutes longer than the standard route (proven when I forced a reroute), and it consistently recommends a sub-optimal path to the freeway by my house.

Pretty clear they need a whole practice dedicated to late-game inbounds plays. As with Thursday, it looked like Brownian motion out there. Amazing Gui managed to catch it.

Every 4 years I also note that all the different swimming strokes other than freestyle are just ways to force the swimmers to go slower than they otherwise could. Maybe they should do the same with running - like backwards running, or both hands behind your back...

I haven't double checked the box score, but from the original post, it looks like 30 from deep, 18 on 2s (9 for 14), and then 4 FTs. A great stat line for sure, definitely efficient. But lots of 3s make it easier to get gaudy point totals, not more impressive.
