Art is a process of the human imagination. Even apparently random art is curated by humans. Decisions have been made (maybe terrible decisions, but the point stands) and the process is organic.

AI is merely a regurgitation of other things. There’s no thought process. It’s utterly inorganic. Dead.

The ‘eye of the beholder’ argument is meaningless. I could watch a football match and declare that someone was offside. But I’m a football ignoramus and anyone who knows football knows that I’m talking rubbish. My saying that ‘it’s in the eye of the beholder’ is unlikely to carry the day. 🤣

Of course you may. Turns out I’m just as huge in Peru, so I’m rolling in it.

No, they’ve already deducted the 10%. I will, however, have to pay my agent 20% commission and also pay 20% income tax on it. Still, that leaves me with 0.6p.

Wow. You are BIG in Colombia!

It was indeed. Plus Pinewood.

Exactly. Me too. And, as you say, it's never been easier or quicker to look up a word.

Totally this. It goes hand-in-hand with that odd accusation of being ‘too clever by half’. What does that even mean? You’d like me to be less intelligent than I am, just to prop up your fragile ego? None of us was born knowing things, but some of us chose to continue learning after we left school.

And while we’re on the subject, I remember receiving at least a dozen messages on Twitter in response to my post about Neil Armstrong’s death, all of them asking me who Neil Armstrong was.

Perhaps I could become your part-time-regional-business-intermediary-executive-within-your-region assistant.

He keeps asking closed questions and then answering them himself. He kills everything.

I never went down the streaming route. Always been a physical media person. Buying a couple of CDs a month pays the artists ten thousand times more, means you own the things in better quality AND is cheaper than subscribing to Spotify, Prime, Apple etc.
November 6, 2025 at 6:16 PM
Totally. Less than 1% of the money paid by subscribers ever reaches the artists. Almost all of it goes to the record labels as dividends and is thereby not classified as royalties - and hence never passed on to the artists.

Yup. Spotify was always a way of exploiting artists. Some hugely rich people with no musical talent saw musicians scraping a living and resented it: ‘It’s unfair for these artists to keep 10% of the profits from their work, leaving only 90% for us. Let’s make that 99.99% instead.’
