Remembering feminist, writer and activist Audre Lorde, who died on this day in 1992.

Here’s my pen and ink portrait of her.

Happy birthday to the wonderful Bonnie Greer. We once had lunch together and she was pure heaven - funny, warm, generous and intelligent. When we parted, she kissed me on the lips and hugged me. I felt blessed.

Here’s my charcoal portrait of her.

I’ve just watched the Royal Ballet’s 2016 production of Frankenstein. It’s absolutely marvellous. If you’re expecting prettiness and frivolity, think again. It’s dark and brutal with hangings and child-murdering on stage. Wonderful stuff!

Of course you may. Turns out I’m just as huge in Peru, so I’m rolling in it.

Now, what to spend my royalty cheque on… 🤔

When he sets his mind to it, Wordsworth can be pretty much the worst poet who ever lived, can’t he?

I’ve just received a sensational job offer.

The great Claude Rains was born on this day in 1889. Here's my portrait of him as Sir John Talbot in The Wolf Man (1941).

What's your favourite Rains movie?

Incidentally, the original portrait is available to buy here:

Currently watching old episodes of The Dick Cavett Show. I’m fascinated by how absolutely hopeless he is as an interviewer. He makes Jerry Hall look polished. I mean all power to his elbow and that, but how on earth did he get the job?

This Specific Dalek has been played by both @nicholaspegg.bsky.social and me. We happily accept the accolade as a couple, though. Thank you, @pinknews.bsky.social.

I watched A View To A Kill last night and was delighted to find that Roger Moore’s very last utterance in the role of James Bond is a Frankie Howerd-style ‘ooh’ implying he’s discovered the person he’s kissing has three breasts, a penis and the address of a Greek restaurant tattooed on her buttock.

It’s touching that he’s kept the name of another royal serial abuser of the young.

Another titan leaves us. Farewell to the great Prunella Scales. A powerhouse of an actress, she dominated stage & screen alike: A Room With A View, Fawlty Towers, A Question of Attribution (I saw her in this at the National - amazing) and my personal favourite: Mapp & Lucia. Thanks for all the joy.
