Looks like a lot of people think that not only is Farage racist, so are Reform and most of those who support the party too.

Hard to disagree really.

Plenty of evidence has emerged that Farage was a virulent racist at school. Leopards just about never change their spots.

As we start a week in which Rachel from Accounts will be presenting her Budget, we'd all do well to remember some facts - laid out here in todays FT.

Goodness me what a result !!

I never ever saw that coming. My best hope was for a draw. Well done boys and well done Eddie Howe !

A result made even better by the scousers losing again 😀😀

Just listening to Ella Whelan tell us that the solution to our economic problems is to cut our spending on working towards net zero targets.

Our economy needs to transition away from fossil fuels and ducking the investment needed is as sure a way to failure as any.

Such illiterate nonsense !

Just been listening to this ghoul from Reform pick on one case of an asylum seeker behaving badly to caricature a whole class of people.

Girls actually need protection from the racist mobs she and her ilk are egging on. They are the regular wife beaters and rapists plaguing our streets.

All you need to know about Labours asylum system plans.

The annoying thing about fleas is that when you shake them off over here, they can reappear elsewhere - this time in New York

Even as @uklabourparty.bsky.social celebrates the success of a progressive in New York, they may wish to reflect upon whether Mamdani would have had any chance in UK Labour

I think we can say with some certainty that the Guardian sports writers know absolutely nothing about Newcastle United and their fans.

Most fans with few exceptions are desolate that the Mackems sit above us in the league and are desperate for the natural order of things to be restored !

Just been watching this on Newsnight.

Makes you wonder why the likes of @vicderbyshire.bsky.social bother.

Yusuf never answered any questions honestly and frankly it was a waste of time.

I understand the BBC thinks it can challenge Reform - they need to stop deluding themselves and everyone else
November 3, 2025 at 10:54 PM
Everything you ever needed to know about Reform right there in a single tweet ..............

Are we really going to let these racists anywhere near the levers of power in our country ?

Bravo Helena Kennedy for socking it to both the Tories and the Media over fanning the flames of the immigration debate and ignoring the damage Brexit had been doing.

Thank you Claire 😍

3.8 million Indian troops fought and put everything on the line for THIS country across two world wars.

400k of those were Sikhs. I'd say their descendants living here and contributing have every right to call this place THEIR home.

It's not just recent migrants. People who have lived here for decades, given in service and earned their place in British society are being targeted as racist politicians egg them on in a throwback to the 70's

Jenrick, Lam, Pochin and their apologists have a lot to answer for.

I'm not suggesting anything. Just making the point that for the man on the street, perception is very much their reality and no amount of logic is going to shift that.

People see prices rising by much more than the CPI or RPI daily. Not scientific but it's this sort of thing I'm on about.

Its a very complicated subject but to go back to where this all started from, there isn't any compelling evidence that pensioners in the UK are especially well off or that state expenditure on pension provision is especially high. I don't see the argument therefore for attacking the triple lock.
October 28, 2025 at 10:56 AM
This is a slightly different version of the chart you posted earlier. I would say looking at that ..... probably not. However what this doesn't tell you (and I don't know the answer) is the relative cost either. I know Europe generally taxes more and gives more back whereas we don't

Ireland has a new president .......

Polanski is the only UK politician that speaks with this clarity on the issue of Gaza.

Well done Ireland on electing her, You've shown Britain the way.

That is what the government should have been working on these last 15 months or so. The fact that business confidence remains so poor isn't on the last government anymore (awful though they were) - is fairly and squarely on this one.

Was almost funnier than her boss .........

These people, citizens of the UK, engaged in a genocide against defenceless women and children. An affront to everything decent people stand for - that's why we must get these people rounded up and behind bars as quick as we can.

What did someone the other day say about Karma ?

Schadenfreude and bitterness is of course not a good thing but .............. I think in this case I might just make an exception.
October 23, 2025 at 4:52 AM
Do we need pages and pages of analysis to work this out ?

The team at NUFC was set up to make sure Isak was a success. He was our only striker and we needed his goals.

At Liverpool, he is not the lynch pin he was at NUFC and the team is not set up around his playing style. Seems simple to me

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Although Diwali originates in India, it's an occasion whose ideals and meaning we all can (and should) share and celebrate.

So wherever you are, on this Diwali, may I wish you all health, happiness and prosperity in the year ahead.

We need more light in our world !
