Language collector and all around nerdface. Talks about diabetes a lot. Inching towards daylight. she/her
EXACTLY. I'm pretty sure the word she doesn't understand in the quote above is either "Jesus" or "Christ" given how he seems to casually use "God" as an expletive in other scenes (which also confuses her).

Did they network-hop partway through their run? Like how Buffy changed from the WB to UPN for its last season? Although I'm checking Google and it doesn't look like it. Who knows what's going on 😣

One girl wrote about why it's bad to text while driving and included the line "Wikipedia states that in 1950, texting while driving was a policy."

Bless this child. Academic language A++, but yes I am going to follow up and make sure she knows cell phones did not exist 75 years ago.

The idea is that they know specific incidents/statistics/statements from credible sources >>> vague "one time my cousin's friend" but I will be grading based on their command of English, not their facts/information.

Some of the kids are clearly having fun with it, which makes grading delightful.

I mean......... yeah they keep going that way honestly. The series itself definitely seems to at best have no opinion and at worst actively keep the war crime worship going, except blue flavored this time. The only people who point out how fucked up it is are not treated as heroes but as obstacles.

The most recent Ascendency ones are about how Thrawn was such a terrible Chiss that he got himself exiled (and they were right to do so!11!!!1!)-- those books could benefit from the same kind of analysis that's in your article here.

Have you read the new canon Thrawn novels? I feel like "There's no Geneva in space! 😎👉👉" should be their tagline.

My kids who did worst just picked the first two.

And tbh it's really clear without even looking at the names which tasks belong to the kids who didn't complete or turn in classwork *that we did together.* So I guess I shouldn't be surprised, even as it's really disheartening.

There were six possible tasks based on units from this semester. Kids had to pick 2 and complete all parts. The idea is that you pick the two you know best and you get lots of points.

Most of my kids who did well picked the most recent unit + one other.
