A rudraksha mala is a mala made of rudraksha. O:)

Rudraksha are dried seeds of plants in the Elaeocarpus genus, most commonly E. ganitrus; "Rudra" refers to a name for Shiva, and "aksha" is the Hindi word for "eye".

A mala, simply put, is kind of a Buddhist rosary.

The store is operated by a husband and wife; had a bit of a conversation with the wife, who'd been monitoring the "Annex", while I was buying the incense and mala. Apparently, rudraksha malas are getting hard to find in the US because of the tariffs. So, hooray for that. x_x

I'd actually thought the smell was that of the tea I was checking out in the moment, but after the fact I realized it was the lingering incense. Such a wonderful smell to it, too. (Ended up getting the tea anyway--actually two varieties, a vanilla mix and "monk's blend", both smell great too!)

The incense is one I've gotten before, Dragon's Fire, but I was surprised when, as I moved from one half of the store to the other--they currently occupy two store spaces, which is new--the scent of the incense lingered on my hands after I'd put it in the car.
