My fave Kubrick anecdote: David Prowse on acting in A Clockwork Orange:
'So you want me to carry Patrick Magee, who weighs 17Olbs, plus the wheelchair, another 30lbs, so 200lbs, down the stairs & then do a dialogue scene?'
'Yeah, you can do it.'
'I know but your name isn't One Take Kubrick, is it?'

The first para of this Atlantic article (which finally calls Trump a fascist) is a perfect example of the Centrist inability to align with the left on absolutely anything without criticising it in the meantime.
"Recent events have brought Trump’s governing style into sharper focus," Jonathan Rauch argues. "'Fascist' best describes it, and reluctance to use the term has now become perverse."
Yes, It’s Fascism
Until recently, I thought it a term best avoided. But now, the resemblances are too many and too strong to deny.

This is a beautiful thread
A few days ago, I stood in the graveyard of an 1100 year old church, getting damper and damper in the drizzling rain.

A woman walked into the graveyard, waved, said hello, and, as we had previously arranged, handed me a paper bag full of human bones.

The life of a churchwarden is a strange one...

A lot of big talk about the UK fucking Trump off but the moment Zack Polanski offers a concrete route to doing that people seem to be getting flustered.

For whatever reason I’d slept on Lake Mungo but found and watched it today. Properly, properly chilling. Haven’t felt like this about a horror film since Skinamarink, though Lake Mungo has much more heart. In fact it’s all heart. That’s probably why it’s so fucking moving.
