I think the one-two of victim blaming and victimization denial, coalescing into 'you're responsible, and you're not a victim, victims choose to be victims, you should choose otherwise' is a rather sick practice that appears to be the norm, culturally.

Had the same issue with the one I bought for my housemate, there was some crosstalk on that side of the board and we couldn't resolve it. Had to RMA it and get a replacement from Valve.
