Wing Commander's branching stories never really went away... they just got more complex. Wing Commander Prophecy has fifty missions (plus ten in the sim) but on an average playthrough you're only going to see 30 of them!

That’s right, the stats stated the same. It’s one of many memory-saving tricks in the SNES version. The funniest part is that the artist they used for the Secret Missions cover painting chose it as the ship to detail!

I was today years old when I learned that Virgil Finlay did illustrations for Larry Niven’s The Adults in Galaxy in 1967, which became the basis for Protector!
