CITES ensures that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten the survival of the species.

Wetlands sustain biodiversity and provide critical corridors for the movement of species, connecting habitats accros regions.

The deadly H5N1 bird flu virus strain may have reached Australia's sub-Antarctic Heard Island. Scientists have reported unusually high death rates among elephant seals, consistent with the H5N1 avian influenza virus, but the samples have not yet been tested. Learn more: bit.ly/3WT8mfD

In order for Australia to halt and reverse biodiversity loss, states need to prevent land clearing in addition to creating more protected areas, particularly in high-risk regions, and restoring areas that have been heavily cleared.

Queensland’s forests are still being bulldozed — and new parks alone won’t save them
Queensland’s conservation ledger is in the red. Despite some new national parks, bulldozers are still clearing forests and vegetation across the state.

We welcome QLD’s effort to establish new national parks, however, the state maintains globally significant rates of land clearing. A new study, comparing rates of protection versus destruction, highlights that new parks alone won’t protect biodiversity without efforts to stop clearing elsewhere 🌍🧪

Evidence-based journalism? Why is there no mention of #methane in this article? Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas as harmful as CO2. Meat and dairy consumption has to go down too if we want a liveable planet. But that's an inconvenient truth.

Cimate scientists are more certain than ever that humans are changing the climate – but there are signs of hope on the horizon.

The EPA (held hostage by this administration) is trying to further gut our nation’s wetland protections.

Wetlands are essential for flood protection, water filtration, biodiversity, drought mitigation and so much more.

Make public comments to reject these changes.

For the new environment laws to work, they have to apply to forestry, and they can’t be pushed aside every time the mining and fossil fuel industries get in the Minister’s ear.
