I love video games (especially RPGs) and anime (Studio Ghibli movies). My first system was a NES and intro RPG was FF4 (2 US), and ever since then I've grown to love a wide variety of games. A good game is like a good book imo.

It has been 31 years since Phantasy Star IV was released! One of the few RPGs released for the Sega Genesis, it holds up as one of the best of the era with its comic panel cutscenes, macro combo system, great monster design, and blend of fantasy and sci-fi elements.

I technically first used #1 since my friend had an Atari but I would say #2 bc that was the first system we owned and I played hours of, which pulled me into becoming a gamer. 🎮

This was a perfect intermediary game between DQ1 & 2. Despite the negative feedback, I thoroughly enjoyed it - 8/10. The desert riding wasn't that bad imo. 100% items, 83% scans, about 20 hours. Normal mode felt balanced minus a frustrating final boss fight. I highly recommend!

I beat the Final Fantasy Tactics remake recently. The visuals, quality of life updates, and voiceovers really enhanced the experience. The Arithmetician class is OP! Had fun trying different classes, completing the optional dungeon, and getting rare items and the best summon. Great replay!

Suikoden was first out 30 years ago (1995)! Loosely based on the centuries old classic Chinese novel Water Margin. With fast gameplay, great pixel art, 108 unique recruits, and 3 types of battle systems to lead a rebellion against an evil Kingdom.

Final Fantasy "II" (but actually IV) was the 2nd in this series out in North America 34 years ago (1991)! 🌙🐋 A dramatic tale across earth, moon, and molten underworld; with a large cast and great OST (it's still one of my fav overworld tracks).

One of my SNES era favorites.
SNES co-op classic Secret of Mana was out 32 years ago (1993)! 🌳⚔️ A lush world within 16 beautiful bits of scenery and music. Glitchy gameplay ages it nowadays, but it's always a fun time with friends, and with lots of spells and weapons to try.
