Here in the American Academy of Pediatrics, I will say unequivocally that we are experts in reminding our government and its agencies that the appropriate expertise is not “in dealing with children” but rather “in caring for, nurturing, and cultivating the potential of all children.”

I’m glad to see Bill say this. But when after a century of just the type of abuse we saw today - relentless and cruel, ensnaring our children and intimidating our communities - young Black people said in frustration, anger, and demand for change “defund the police” - so many of you denounced them.

Over 35 years in pediatrics, I've seen harm and devastation wrought by vaccine-preventable disease. I've seen the decline of specific diseases and their harms when their corresponding vaccines became available. So, I'm proud to be part of the organization bringing this challenge in court.
