Same with my children of my friends & peers. Their kids do not hug or even high five unless the child explicitly consents to do so.
Personally, I think it’s great that kids are growing up with more bodily autonomy AND that Boomer grandparents are learning that no one owes them anything.

This is actually a real trend (the non-obligatory hug thing). My oldest nephew is 14 & was obligated to give hugs as a young child. He’s an outlier (an oops baby) in the family. The rest are 10 & younger; all of them were taught consent & that they were not obligated to give anyone a hug.

Oh, Marissa owns like a financial company (with Colin) & Peter does something in finance too, I think. It’s Jenny & her husband who are the editor & teacher.

At an INDEPENDENT publisher no less lololol. I kept saying to my wife that their house/wealth makes no sense based on what they do (he's a high school teacher & she's an editor).

I love my Trek commuter bike. I bought it probably about a 10 yrs ago for $700. I've never had any issues with it & it is light, durable, & fast enough. I even did a 25-mi race with it. I upgraded this year for fitness biking, but still use my commuter bike for errands/neighborhood riding.

We've been having issues with them here as well. Trader Joe's asked them to leave multiple times & they would hide where the employees couldn't see them, then return to harassing customers.

This is one of those things where when I moved here I knew it was illegal & never did it. But somehow, over time, I've become one of them. I park the wrong direction in front of my house almost daily. 😅

I expected it to have the familiar beats of the guardian angel/ghosts of Christmas past films we've all known. I didn't expect it to be such a searing critique of capitalism (esp. VC/PE), tech bros, the gig economy, anti-unionization, & AI/tech. I hope more people watch it. Plus, Keanu is excellent!

Yes, Tester was a great example of that. I didn't love everything he did when he was in the Senate, but I was devastated when he lost his reelection. It's also been mystifying to watch from afar as my home state elects out-of-state millionaires over MT born & bred farmers.

I truly feel like the NYT keeps them on as columnist as a cover. "See, we can't be peddling anti-trans conspiracy theories. We have a trans columnist! Would an anti-trans publication do that?"

I really think the backlash to her was rooted in misogyny & anti-Asian racism. Her advice is so tame! If you love something, keep it! If it doesn't spark joy, give it away for someone else to love. Also, we fold everything in her style now & it's amazing how much more fits in a drawer.
