One of my local school districts charges $2 for breakfast & $3 for lunch for students in grades K-5. That means if you have 2 children who eat both breakfast & lunch at school, you would spend at least $10/day. That's more than the entirely daily allotment for SNAP benefits.

The federal government's per diem rate for DC is $92/day.
The maximum monthly SNAP benefit for the poorest individual is $298. That translates to $9.93/day. For a family of 4, that's $8.28/day.
Congresspeople: $92/day

Whew. This is how I discovered 1999 was not a great year for my favorite artists/music. Some big pop albums came out, but that wasn't my jam. Some of my favorite artists released albums, but not their best. Here are the few that were incredible.

Last night my wife & I watched My Old Ass (partially bc I saw @dansavage.bsky.social raving about it on here). We enjoyed it, but I also was taken by the cinematography, which was steeped in sun dappled lakes & tall pines. Coincidentally, we visited the river this afternoon & captured similar vibes.

The CFPB is wildly popular with everyone across party affiliation. It is the only agency monitoring fintech apps like PayPal, Klarna, etc. Without them, bad actors WILL commit fraud & get away with it, potentially (LIKELY) putting the entire economy at risk.

I've been on Facebook for 20 years--almost to the day. According to my account history, I created my profile on 2/1/05. Nowhere else have I documented my adult life, so closing it down is difficult. But with the decision to rollback hate speech guidelines, I felt I had no other choice.

One show I thought did this (to an extent) was Shrill. It didn't get into her work as a reporter for The Stranger as much as the book did, but it may have had it been given more time.

So far I like Bluesky, I really do. But they have GOT to figure out how to stop images from repeatedly showing up on people's discover/fyp feed. I have seen this image at least 6 times today & have clicked the "Show less like this" every time & yet!!! Two more this evening.

Right after I wrote this, the image I was thinking of showed up two posts apart on my discover feed. I have hit the "Show less like this button" every time this dumb thing shows up, but I still see it half a dozen times a day or more. 🙃
