It was on February 10, 1919, that the first official dependent ship, the Tunisian, arrived after WWI. An Order in Council was passed in January with plans to bring soldiers' families home to Canada. Many of these were war brides. It was the first of 73 dependent ships in 1919. #WWI #FWW #Warbrides

The cardboard backing in a frame indicated that it was made by a disabled soldier at the @redcrosscanada.bsky.social workshop in #yyj, AND the paper backing was old wallpaper with a #poppy design!

Nov 5 1919 Almost 3,600 war brides have been shipped to America from Europe. Of this total, 3/5 of the number were French, 1/5 English the rest scattered between 21 nationalities.
