We saw this during the last boom time for the arts where centres were opened anywhere there was a local Minister who wanted his name on a plaque, but there was not enough funding for upkeep, salaries, commissioning, production to keep all of them alive.

Charity can work for once-off infrastructure, but you’re right it’s no replacement for SYSTEMIC funding. TS funded a successful pilot prog for families with pre-school/early ed children with special needs but it hasn’t won Govt support, so the year it doesn’t get Toy Show funding, it could be gone.

I worked in show biz and events, so I’m probably not as horrified by this as others might be, but I would be asking Why? How much? Cos that’s a premium ask, baby! And it better be for something worthwhile!
