I'm planning a January release of "Easy As It Gets", the 4th book in my #hardboiled #detective series on a #starship, and that means it's #Blurb Time! Thoughts?
All I wanted was to never feel anything again. Manipulated, betrayed, and causing nothing but misery for my best friend, I'd lost all hope for a happy ending. For fourteen months, I deadened my emotions, and self-will, with the drug Copa, and that made it possible to go on living--if you wanna call it that. Then an old acquaintance and her son go missing and, as it turns out, I'm just the guy to find them. Lucky me. Involuntarily ripped outta my high, I hit the corridors of the Starship Australis only to find more has been taken from me than I ever expected. The lives of a boy and his mother hang in the balance as I teeter on the edge, trapped in a tangle of cons, lies and betrayals that not everyone wants unraveled. As I come closer to the truth, it's only a question of which will put me in more danger: my mouth or my addiction.

This was a pleasant surprise today!

If you're wondering, as a #reader, how an #author feels about less than 5 stars, they're fantastic. Fives are great, but no book is perfect, nor a perfect fit for everyone. A 3 or 4 shows the reader engaged with my work and that's really what it's all about!🪐📚💙
Review of "Chivarly Will Get You Dead" by Ed Robins. "Do not mistake my 3/5 for anything other than a deeply glowing experience! "This book is one of the more odd ones. I made a reddit post asking for some ongoing detective series and the author himself, Mr. Robins appeared from the temporal void to recommend his own book to me. Not only was I the perfect target for a book like this, he was the perfect writer for a book like this. Chivalry Will Get You Dead is proudly fun. "An imperfectly perfect book, before even finishing this short little paper stack I already bought every other book by Mr. Robins. I genuinely can not explain how delighted I was well reading it! I would plan to read maybe five pages and wake up from a book haze at least fifty pages later. Impressive for a book with not even 150 pages. "This is an incredibly well paced and plotted novel for something of its slimness. I find a lot of modern books that run this small tend to have some kind of pacing problem but this one felt well structured to be short. Well the characters where architypes in many respects that wasn't a problem. They are well written and fun takes on classic noir tropes. The world is fleshed out enough, but never so over built I start checking out. It is so impressively simple. Not a detail too much or too little. The perfect afternoon read, the perfect paperback, the perfect 3/5. "THIS IS A SERIOUS MUST READ!!! If you want something worth far more than a dime in its level of pure blissful entertainment please pick this up! This is the kind of book I honestly crave more of far before its final pages. Its so earnest and wonderful and fun! FUCKING HELL ON A MERRY GO ROUND ITS JUST FUN!"

I’d never seen so many weapons: knives and swords of every description, brass knuckles, blackjacks big and small, even a damn crossbow. He reached in and handed back a twenty centimeter stiletto in a sheath. “Warn’t thinking you’d go unarmed?” he asked. “Give me some knuckles, too.” He obliged and I slipped them over the fingers of my left hand. The knife went into my back waistband under my shirt. Louie picked up a Bowie. “Too hard to conceal that,” I said. “Bend over.”

I've always been a bit of an astronomy dork (nerd implies far too much knowledge) and dreamed of one day seeing the Aurora Borealis. I know it's even more spectacular in the north, but seeing it at all from Kansas is a dream come true!

According to @sff180.bsky.social, the first #scifi story involving a proper #generationship was Don Wilcox's "The Voyage That Lasted 600 Years" and that Wilcox was from Lucas, KS--only 2.5 hours away! I sense a pilgrimage coming on.
