If everyone would read a handful of novels each year most of our problems would be solved.

My entire feed from here in Australia is telling me about dreadful things happening in the USA. Your country is a shitshow and it’s polluting everywhere else. You’re not the leaders of anything, let alone the free world. Sort your shit out.

In Miguel de Cervantes' novel from the 1600s, the protagonist, Don Quixote, famously mistakes windmills for giants & charges them with his lance, only to be knocked off his horse.

Our modern day Quixote, Andrew Bolt, is equally deluded.

I’m going to be really disappointed if this 80km/h speed limit on NSW rural roads doesn’t come in.

I quite like the idea of a more relaxed pace. Also the savings on fuel, and the less flattened animals would be nice.

Plus the bogans on FB are going to lose their minds.

Many years later I was hosting breakfast on abc Sydney. We were no. 2 in the ratings. And after the show John would drive by on his way to 2sm in his rolls Royce. I'd always wave. He never waved back, but his wife would.

John Laws is dead. One of Australia's most successful broadcasters. As a teenager I rang his show. We argued for 10mins on air. He hung up on me with the words "you're obviously a loser in life & going nowhere. Goodbye."

ABC News’s stories about housing are so terribly biased from affluent mainly white (occasionally token Asian) house owner or wannabe house owner perspectives. Occasionally, they will do a tut tut story on how social and public housing is so poor but nothing much beyond a ‘isn’t it a shame’ message.

Obviously, the answer is to give the cops more power over protest, eh premier? That seems a good idea
