That was exactly what the liberal “centre” claimed to be doing with Starmer—and they were wrong.

We’d had to contend with him in the the run up to 2019 and some of us were active in his constituency, so saw him close up. I think ideology, a flawed analysis, and wishful thinking also blinded parts of the party to his evident shortcomings. (The left doesn’t always see its limitations either.)
