Bill 60 is outrageous in a province already inundated with mass homelessness.

It further limits justice for tenants at the LTB, expedites evictions, and further incentivizes Landlord's Own Use evictions by slashing compensation to tenants.

Unconscionable!

It was drawn to my attention today by a CBC reporter that Sylvia Jones has apparently issued a statement claiming that there has been a 41% decrease in overdose deaths since the safe consumption sites were closed. I found this hard to believe, so I looked at the figures from the Chief Coroner.

The public should know how aggressive and cruel these City evictions are becoming. At this one, by-law officers were laughing while evicting tents and calling themselves “the teepee police.”

This was never meant to provide shelter, it's to justify the further disenfranchisement of some of the most vulnerable in our community through enforcement and evictions. Councillors are not being consulted and costs for enforcement are unknown to date. A report should be public later this month.
