Oh no. It's late night thoughts with Yarn again.

Several months ago while lurking on the bad bird site, I saw one of the most lopsided, black and white takes.

Some rando claimed that to cause someone discomfort is to cause them harm. (And since this was in a fandom context, you better believe +

Anyhoo. Got to the part with Barret and Dyne in FFVII Rebirth.

Such a sincere take on the road to Hell being paved with good intentions. Once something's done, it's done, and there's no revenge or justice or even forgiveness that can undo it.

We all have to live with and carry that weight.

I've moved on to re-playing FFVII Rebirth. It's amazing how much better it is now that I'm refusing to feel obligated to report all my opinions to a largely toxic fandom whose goal posts were installed on a damn slip & slide.

It's amazing how much more fun the minigames are now that I have my+

An analogy:

When I was a child, I would let mosquitoes bite me because I liked how it felt when I scratched the bites. (Not healthy, but I was only 8.)

Likewise, some folks seek certain story elements out exactly because they want to have a reason to complain. They love scratching that itch.
I laugh my ass off whenever someone complains that there are "too many superhero movies/shows" or "too many multiverses!"

There's never been a problem with an easier solution.

It's 2026. Watch something else.

I don't think it's appropriate to assume the worst OR best of people

Either option is a type of pre-judging. It's great to want to meet others with good will, but being kind or polite shouldn't require playing anyone's fool.

Judge *nothing* of intent until there's adequate evidence either way.

To clarify: I don't believe that a depressed mindset is fundamentally correct. It may reflect some truths about a mind or its environment, but it's far from absolute.

But the *feeling* that it might be can be so overwhelming sometimes.

I dunno...just a sort of blended vent/ PSA, I guess.
One of the most insidious things depression can do is to make its perspective feel like the incontrovertible truth.

So not only do I struggle with the present; I look back to when I was more confident or hopeful, and I get the sense I was deceived or delusional, and that I should have known better.

An extensive exploration of the mythology and religious traditions that inspired FFXVI, I am thrilled to announce that volume one of Mythos: Final Fantasy XVI releases at the end of this month!

Please help me get the word out! All shares hugely appreciated!

From Highguard to Final Fantasy, some opinions just aren't worth engaging with. Here's the one thing that makes me tune out someone.

Allllrighty naughty children. It's time to tell a story called, "Yarn Was A Dumbass".

It started this past November, when I realized I was due for my COVID booster, but put it off because I wanted to set aside 24-48 hours to get past the side effect of feeling a little run down. And I put it off.+

AI is dying. Repost to make it die faster.
👀 | OpenAI is reportedly burning cash fast, with losses projected to reach $14B in 2026 and a possible cash shortfall by 2027.

Analysts say AI profitability was overestimated, as rising data center and inference costs could lead to a $207 BILLION industry shortfall by 2030.

It's interesting and deeply unsettling how well VII-Remake showcases the inner workings of a fascististic system.

But in that, there's a small nugget of hopeful truth for me and my fellow US folks: On their way up to the boardroom meeting, President Shinra (Sr) asks Heidegger if "the narrative is+

I've been replaying FFVII-Remake, and for the first time since it dropped back in 2020, I'm genuinely enjoying it.

Because this is the first time I've truly felt at liberty not to have to keep a background list of justifications and defenses for why my enjoying it wasn't indicative of some deep +

Clarification re: the last thread: Language does undergo organic changes over time. If a word doesn't mean the same thing it did 200 years ago, that's normal.

Friendly reminder that "toxic positivity" has absolutely nothing to do with a person's genuine, sincere love or enjoyment of a thing.

Toxic positivity refers to a set of social ideas, norms, or behaviors that call for the suppression and demonization of negative emotions as essentially harmful.
