"… Ask anyone who has experienced the show and they’ll tell you, it does not feel like 7 hours."

Sounds cool and all, but the fact that it appears to be more successful than The Brick's Game Play is kinda upsetting, which I wrote about for Kotaku many moons ago…
I Went to the Theater to See Duck Hunt and D&D. So Can You. - Kotaku
For years, we have seen filmmakers tap into video games as a source of inspiration. And the relationship certainly contains a certain degree of logic.

"… You can expect the show to feel like a blend of super awesome game night at your friend’s house (with a hundred friends) and unforgettable movie marathon—expect a healthy dose of political uprising, delicious food served at intermissions, and lots of donkeys…"

… Oh, and here's another Katamari MV that I'll be playing next time, provided there even is a next time, given how I've made jokes about Trump during past broadcasts and all (via youtu.be/BjTNKumjMlA)

... Here are some screenshots to hopefully job some memories (also, here's hoping a rip from said DVD makes it onto YouTube or the Internet Archive; you can find it on the former, and the quality is pretty bleh)
It's a very elaborate TV commercial for Golden Sun/Game Boy Advance. A marble statue and chandelier come to life to try to attack an orchestra.

Sorry for the belated response; trying to cross post the same material across Twitter/Bluesky/Mastodon & given how some folks have different handles across the different platforms (+ how some are not on a specific platform yet what should be their handle is being used by someone else) is a nightmare

As previously noted, today's the second half of the TOKYO NIGHTS + THE LAST GAME CENTERS opening & reception, so if you're in NYC, you should totally swing by Vitamin (16 N 1st St, Brooklyn, NY 11211); congrats @victoralonso.es & here's to the next show (also be sure to get his books)!

A look at some pieces for a Tokyo Nights volume 2 that sadly may never happened and the space's tricked out PSX + one of the many CRTs that the gallery has…

It was also my first visit to Vitamin (see playvitamin.com), and gotta say that it's about damn time NYC finally had a game culture focused gallery space (something I tried myself to get started over a decade ago, but that's a story for another time)…

As an advocate of extolling the virtues of game culture, I have thusly been a fan of @victoralonso.es's work for quite some time, so it was especially nice talking to the artist, and re: a wide range of topics (fave game centers, the difficulties of book publishing, etc)…

One last AnimeNYC highlight; I dug @zerotyranos.bsky.social's work the most & was crestfallen (yet not surprised) that their ASTRO Gaming Lifestyle Magazine was sold out (see zerotype.shop/products/ast...), hence the purchase after the fact online (hopefully my local USPS office doesn't destroy it)

One artist who made an especially strong impression on me was Gatonardo Da Vinci (see www.gatonardo.cl); the harsh reality of artist alleys these days is how one must now double-check to see if something is by AI or not, and this most definitely is not computer generated (plus I love cats)…
