One thing that's changed a LOT in the past ten years: gift guides used to be about a writer or editor picking things they thought were cool and that their readers would like. Now it's all about monetizing the clicks, and it's so, so dullllllll

Here is a guide to doing the Butterfly Stitch with Beads- I think it uses base 7 stitches instead of the 5 I used.

Very welcome! Hope that was enough info to get you started😊I learned the butterfly stitch from a hat pattern, and I not sure how much modification then qualifies as a new pattern or I would write it up in more detail.

For a fellow Yarnian 💖- German cast on 150 stitches on US #7 needles, yarn DK weight, ~1” broken rib, base 5 Butterfly, alternate w/5 knit stitches, next set knit 5 then Butterfly set. Next set of Butterfly do the 5 knit stitches 1st. I had enough yarn for 6 Butterfly rows. ~1” broken rib, bind off.

I love the German Cast On, and so looked up something that was similar for a cast off and that is what came up. Something about the rhythm of both just makes my hands and brain happy.

I don't recall where I found this, but I'd say this looks about right.

When I got this skein I knew I wanted to make a beaded cowl w/it-& with blue beads to highlight the bursts of blue in the yarn, but none of the patterns I found fit just right. So I got brave & played with a favorite stitch- Beaded Butterfly. Learned how to do Broken Rib and the Icelandic Bind Off!

This yarn was from this year’s February yarn club skein. The yarn club is so wonderful-bits of history with gorgeous yarn. Plus I get to try yarns and colors out of my normal box, and make wonderful things.
