I keep forgetting to intro myself🙃:

Hi! 👋🏿

I’ve worked in Dem politics & on progressive causes for years

Now I work for myself as a strategist turning out voters & electing progressive candidates

I’m also writing a book on Black women & democracy (I know 😐) that reflects these experiences (1/2)
Oh yeah unacceptable. Senate Dems cannot have staked a shutdown on ACA subsidies and then cave with a….promise of a concept of a vote.

Call your Senator ASAP
Okay, Ezra is confirming that he's hearing D senators are actually plotting to cave to Trump and end the shutdown WITHOUT any extension of the ACA, just a promise of a vote later down the line.

Call your senators, friends, NOW, and tell them NO DEAL without ACA funding!

I really need Congressional Dems to get LOUD about this.

They have the emergency fund, they are just refusing to pay it.

………so did folks stop the Tesla protests?

Because…. Paying him $1 trillion to manage Tesla?!
In an era of skyrocketing CEO pay, Tesla shareholders overwhelmingly approved a $1 trillion pay package intended to keep Elon Musk in charge of the company for the next decade. https://wapo.st/4oTKbcZ

We must note that all the condemnation of Tucker Carlson platforming Nick Fuentes has been about anti-Semitism and there has been an alarming and revealing silence around his anti-Black racism and white supremacy. When the head of the Heritage Foundation apologized, he only cited anti-Semitism.

Liberal feminism made it possible for women to be in the workplace

So, were asserting in a column in a national paper (at which a lot of women work) the very presence of women ruined the workplace? 🤔

Like how did this get past anyone?

I really wondered if she was going to go toes up, but I’m glad Pelosi did it this way.

Between corralling the House on passing the ACA, and leading Dems through the 1st term of Trump, she was very effective at her job, even the folks who didn’t like her said that
WASHINGTON (AP) — Nancy Pelosi won't seek reelection, ending her storied career in the US House.

They said that about 2017 in Virginia too 😏. We saw how that turned out for them.

Virginia went from statewide GOP leadership and flipped to all Dem statewide and picked up 13 seats in the House

GA elected 2 Dems statewide, MS Dems broke GOP supermajority in Senate, and PA Dems held Supreme Court
Mike Johnson: "What happened last night is blue states and blue cities voted blue. We all saw that coming. And no one should read too much into last night's election results."

And good morning to Mississippi Democrats!

They BROKE the Republican Supermajority in the State Senate 🤯

A reminder why you don’t throw the towel in on organizing in the Southern states.

We are worth investing in, even if it yields small gains

Worth mentioning, one helluva journey for Senator Ghazala Hashmi, elected in 2019 to the Virginia Senate, inspired to run for office because of Trump’s travel ban against majority Muslim countries.

After tonight, she will be the 1st Muslim woman elected to to statewide office in the United States

I know NYC is interesting and all but…

Virginia also has an Election Day today for Governor, Lt. Gov and Atty General, the Virginia House and other local offices

This election will also determine, referenda for next year on voting rights, abortion rights, and redistricting amendment on the ballot

Given who he endorsed in the last election….

I hope that meant Dick Cheney’s final days were having to sit with ALL the consequences of the decisions he made leading to the world we have now

The nationalization of the NYC Mayor’s race esp. THIS cycle is a proxy war over the direction of the Democratic Party post 2024.

It shouldn’t be but it’s got it all the points:

establishment vs non establishment, white man vs man of color, old vs young, mod liberal vs progressive
NYC is NOT a "so goes this city, so goes the country" space, and people acting like this is the general election. It's a lot.

Yeah with the latest news about Teen Vogue even more relevant
In a way, I find the authoritarian takeover of our media system even more disturbing than the authoritarian takeover of our political system.

Our political system has been failing basically my entire adult life. But, the media system provided accountability and sort of worked. Now it’s collapsing.

And the Virginia elections are now even higher stakes!
Virginia's Senate has now passed the constitutional amendment that'd allow Dems to redistrict VA, joining House.

So Dems completed step 1: passing measure this week.

Step 2: keep the House Tuesday.
Step 3: pass this again in January.
Step 4: win a referendum in the spring.

If ever there was a “let them eat cake” moment of our time. This would be it
I am certainly no seasoned strategist but I am a little skeptical of the political wisdom behind building a giant golden ballroom and sharing a dozen photos of a renovated marble bathroom at the very moment that millions of people are losing access to healthcare and food.
