Even though internal heat compensates for some of the distance, Neptune is still 5 degrees colder (mean temperatures at 1 bar)

Though as an astronomer who used to argue with pub quiz masters, I definitely do not recommend it :D

I'd definitely recommend including QM. Apart from providing context for some radiative transfer, I think the maths is very useful for almost any subfield in theoretical astro. Even if they don't use QM directly, the training in Linear Algebra, Perturbation theory, WKB, etc will be super useful
