wild hunt. when the hypnosis hits, it’s easy to forget you’re skidding on ice, fog so thick to obscure the mountainside. the queen and her blade fear neither death nor the moon, and stingers in the earth, and hooves in the waves remember the shake of your black-eyed bones. feet on the ground, you are a hanged man. when she sets her gaze upon you, do you take the plunge led by a dead sun? the daffodils burnt out when your looking glass froze over. barren trees, but the sea brings salt to cure wounds and meat. like this, the maenads would leave you to rot. she loves you. she loves you not. “i hope you don’t think i’m trying to punish you.” her hands are a spider’s web and you’d lick the poison from her arrows just to see the light (again. “maybe next time. maybe next time.”) another for the dread queen’s banquet, before the ravenous bride with reddened hands rips through slush and starry veils - it’s been a year, and your heart is steaming. i’m not afraid to say i went for the kill when i saw it. -aster grim
