• If the U.S. military operation to interdict and destroy suspected narcotraFicking vessels is a “non-international armed conflict,” as the Trump Administration suggests, orders to “kill everybody,” which can reasonably be regarded as an order to give “no quarter,” and to “double-tap” a target in order to kill survivors, are clearly illegal under international law. In short, they are war crimes. • If the U.S. military operation is not an armed conflict of any kind, these orders to kill helpless civilians clinging to the wreckage of a vessel our military destroyed would subject everyone from SECDEF down to the individual who pulled the trigger to prosecution under U.S. law for murder. Highlighted sentence at the end of the document reads: Again, the bottom line is that, since orders to kill survivors of an attack at sea are “patently illegal,” anyone who issues or follows such orders can and should be prosecuted for war crimes, murder, or both.

In Khan Younis, the IDF says two people who crossed the Yellow Line were engaged in “suspicious activity” and posed an “immediate threat.” The victims were two 9-year-old children. In Rafah, the army admits its forces murdered a man they branded a “terror operative” after they claimed he crossed the line and approached their forces in a threatening way. As usual, the IDF offered no evidence for any of the claims. Videos from @translatingpal (via Samer Alboji) and Ibrahim Salama. Emanuel (Mannie) Fabian @manniefabian The IDF says it killed three Palestinians who crossed the Yellow Line demarcating the military's withdrawal in two separate incidents in the southern Gaza Strip earlier today. In the first incident, the military says two "suspects" were identified by troops of the Kfir Brigade crossing the line in the Khan Younis area, carrying out "suspicious activity in the ground," and approaching the forces "in a way that posed an immediate threat." After the pair were identified, the Israeli Air Force struck and killed them "to remove the threat," the IDF says. Palestinian media reported earlier that the two killed in the strike were young children. In another incident, the IDF says troops of the Nahal Brigade identified a terror operative who crossed the Yellow Line in the Rafah area and approached the forces. The soldiers "eliminated the terrorist to remove the threat," the army says.
