My dad adds the 'local' onto his military standard times when he's either being a smartass or talking to family in other timezones. Except the auntie in Scotland, she just gets ALL the harassment.

I learned English on and off USAF bases and in central Alaska, then northern New Mexico. I'd probably have a tossup between the following: Half past two, fourteen thirty, two-thirty in the afternoon and also 'twenty minutes until class lets out now stop asking'.

I love when you post Ruby. Her design is gorgeous and has such great vibes. She reminds me of the moms of some of my friends when I was in high school, and some of the mothers of my students now- doing her best in the best ways she knows how, even if life and her kiddo throw regular curveballs.

I've got students who want to go into diesel mechanics, welding, sonography, sex work (I wish they wouldn't tell me that), game design, professional cookery, rangeland management....the list goes on!

Speaking as a high school teacher.....thankfully no, there are a lot of interesting (and oddly specific) aspirations out there now.
