Hubby took a nap, so I went for a walk.The sunshine and snow brightened up both the landscape and my mind. I had a backpack with me for grocery shopping, I bought chicken drumsticks for dinner. I grilled them with potato wedges, made a colorful vegetable salad as a side dish. 🍜

Great winter sports on TV today: men's and women's biathlon and ice hockey. Pheasant showed up to eat sunflower seeds for lunch. They chased away a cheeky squirrel, who protested loudly.
For hubby’s brunch: cucumber, radishes, melons, grapes, an omelette, pear kiwi, persimmon. 🍜

-5ºC today. A miracle has happened, bright sun greeted me this morning, we even had a little snow! It feels good after the rain.

I almost managed to capture the fading sun on the way home by car.
For dinner: I bought rainbow trout fillets and pan-fried them with onions and mushrooms, added cream, lemon juice, black pepper, herb salt and let them simmer while I made the mash and a side salad.🍜

Yes, we Finns love both liquorice and chocolate. These candies are my favourites, great with coffee.

I went to grocery shopping with my son and we had buffet lunch at the local Nepalese restaurant Susav: Lamb Kofta, Butter Chicken Masala, basmati rice, vegetable salad and fluffy, delicious naan.
For dessert:coffee (Christmas blend)and chocolate/liquorice balls at Papulaari cafe. 🍜

Do you get your vitamins and minerals from food or do you also take pills? Our winters are long, there’s little sunlight, I need some extra supplements like vitamin D and C.

Hubby and I were watching sports.The cold drizzle and windy weather weren't very inviting, so hubby and I skipped our evening walk.
For supper: pan fried breaded chicken steaks with slices of lemon and anchovies, mash, sautéed mushrooms, steamed green beans and a vegetable salad. 🍜

I went to grocery shopping with my son and we had buffet lunch at a local Chinese restaurant.
My plate looks a bit messy, because I wanted to taste many different dishes. I had some sushi too. The shrimp tray looked tempting, but I‘m allergic, so I had to skip that delicacy. 🍜

I was dreaming of a simple bowl of pea soup and crêpes this week.
It's a bit of a long process because I use dried peas. I soaked the peas overnight in water and made a soup with smoked pork belly. Instead of crepes, I made puff pastry pies with cloudberry and plum jam. 🍜

I read an old Finnish cookbook from 1947. The post-war era was clearly visible in the recipes. Sugar and many ingredients were rationed. We only had pickles in the winter.
I made sausage stroganoff and mash according to an old recipe.
It brought back memories from my childhood! 🍜
