#StarTrekIII underrated imo. And I was so thrilled Spock came back (spoiler!)
I hadn’t watched Star Trek III in years. I didn’t remember Shatner’s performance after the shock of David’s death being so visceral. Nor the enablement of the self-destruct. My respect for the TOS crews acting has elevated a notch.

Not to go down this week's particular rabbit hole very deeply, but as a guy who was *in fact hiring Hollywood writers* between 2011 and 2018, four staffs in total, it seems a lot of smart commenters are missing I did not diversify my rooms to be woke, I diversified my rooms to have better rooms.

The Iraq War was a tragic mistake, but nobody was surprised that the US military took Baghdad in less than a month, even though Iraq is half a world away from the US. Meanwhile, Russia can’t get halfway across a country on its border. Losers.
To those thinking Russia is winning in Ukraine:
Imagine if when we invaded Iraq, we were almost four years into it, only occupied 20 percent, and lost a million men.
Not a soul would call that “winning.”

i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.

I only met him once, when he hosted a book party for a friend. He and Michele were so wonderful & gracious in welcoming everyone into their home. A lovely person and a towering figure in social justice and Democratic politics. This is a great loss for the creative community and small-d democracy
Rob Reiner was funny and gregarious, just like you’d expect. Michele Reiner always insisted on one conversation at a time around a dinner table so everyone could participate. Such a tragedy. All my sympathy to their family.
