As per the rules, they can be called up as of Dec 7th, but I suspect United will negotiate to let them play on the 8th. Can't imagine national teams being ok with players joining less than a week before tourney start. If I was to guess, I'd say less than 50% odds of them playing on the 15th.

I don't think having 1-3 AFCON players is a problem, BUT people forget that players report for national team duty long before the tourney starts. United players for example, Dec 8 vs Wolves is very likely the last match for Boomo, Amad, Maz. So FT in now gives you 4GW.

It's possible that you're looking at this all wrong. If at the start of the season I told you that you'd be ahead of Ben Crellin, Pras, Ross, Lateriser, Andy Martin, etc.. at the end of GW11, you'd probably have gladly taken that outcome.
