What happened today? Behind closed doors, the Law Enforcement Working Party group approved the revised Danish Chat Control compromise with broad support. While mandatory scanning had officially been dropped, Article 4 of the new text reframes and reintroduces it by obliging providers of e-mail, chat, and messenger services to take “all appropriate risk mitigation measures”. This effectively forces providers to scan all messages, including private, end-to-end encrypted content. The same article outlaws anonymous communication by requiring every citizen to verify their age before accessing a service, kneecapping whistleblowers, journalists, political activists, and people seeking help who depend on anonymity. Article 6 further imposes a digital house arrest and would ban minors from installing software which comes with a significant risk of grooming, such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and online games like Roblox. What happens next? The legislation now moves to the Coreper (Committee of Permanent Representations) for approval. Without major political objections, the Council will formally adopt its position. At this stage, both the Council and Commission unite in imposing mass surveillance on all 450 million citizens of the European Union and we enter a rushed trilogue. Unfortunately, while the mandate of the European Parliament does not suffer from the same flaws, the Parliament is traditionally known for giving in. What now? We raise our voices. Louder.

Really proud of the work everyone at The Dreamcatcher put in during #Over/Under . It was truly a highlight to get to work with such creative individuals for the past month. I hope we were able bring some life to the Dream. So much creativity in this game overall. It was astounding what people made!

For @samsorensen.bsky.social's #OVER/UNDER I created WEATHERVANE, an in-universe themed combat simulator. Using it, our faction was able to predict the outcome of any battle with a high degree of confidence. It helped us price mercenary contracts and go into any combat knowing the expected outcomes.

There is someone roleplaying as Anthony Bourdain in #OVER/UNDER, just going around doing monologues in the various public spaces, and it's truly.... so good.

Everything’s too bright and too dark at the same time: holo-ads bleeding through clouds of coolant steam, promising pleasure, relief, and escape in six-second loops nobody’s really watching anymore. I can feel the hum of the station beneath my boots, like a tired animal breathing slow, or maybe it’s the low rumble of the fighting league. It’s all stacked metal and patched wiring here; architecture built by a committee of welders and dreamers who never spoke the same language. Probably several committees. Image Down on the streets I watch a drunk token miner yell at a vending machine that won’t take their credits. Somewhere above, a train rattles the ceiling as it leaves for a better, safer block that’s probably equally as tenuous. It’s loud, dirty, alive, and, in its own broken way, honest. You can’t gentrify vacuum, as much as this station tries. Holographic ads hawk enigmatic augmentations, political slogans that go out of date in an hour, or a good time of the sapphic variety. Smashing. that explains why the air tastes of android coolant. There’s the ever present hint of politics and commerce everywhere, inside the market, outside on the street; anyone not selling something seems to be planning, kneeling or squatting against walls, on the floor, in the street, whispering information or shouting it. This looked exactly like the Prospero Dreams of my fevered imaginings: dead drops, brush contacts, burst transmissions, betrayals. When I finally leave the market, the blocks are dark, and I pass a few buildings lit by flickering electric light. Broom closet-sized alleyway stores and restaurants serving mysterious narcotics and hot meals for a few credits, flickering LEDs barely revealing the silhouettes of seated figures reading bratva literature. Both names were applied to male and female raccoons.

The Aztec term for the raccoon was mapachitli or mapachitl, which translates as “one who takes everything in his hands.” Their term for the female, however, was see-oh-at-la-ma-kas-kay, which means “she who talks with gods.” Furthermore, their term for a female with cubs, ee-yah-mahtohn, translates as “little old one who knows things.” This is the title that they conferred upon the “wise women” in their society, demonstrating the elevated status of mother raccoons in Aztec culture.

Things to ask yourself when playing in a new TTRPG group:

- What do I want out of the experience?
- What am I bringing to the experience for the group?
- What compels your character to be involved in the story and the group?

The experience will be 10x better with answers to these questions.
