Art is like games. There’s a lot of “grinding” to build stats before you are ready for a boss fight.
If you didn’t do the work to beat the boss fight, was the game as much fun or as meaningful to you? Aren’t the games you spent the most time and energy on the ones that stay with you?

Anything less than a month is just rude. I try to give authors two to three months or more because I know my books are not first in line and that the people I’m asking also have deadlines for their own work.
