Serious Q: anyone else detest BlueSky’s habit of automatically jumping to the most recent post instead of keeping your place in your timeline?
So either you miss everything or you have to scroll back to find your place - as more ppl join, that becomes ever more impractical.

Only thing I don’t like.

As long as there have been children, there have been toys. As it's the #LateLateToyShow we thought we'd share some of our favourite toys in the @nmireland.bsky.social

Board games have a long history in Ireland. I wonder how many family squabbles took place around this Hnefatafl board [a sort of Viking chess] found at Ballinderry Crannog in Westmeath.

Gaming pieces were also some of the most common finds in Dublin

With all these recent #TasTepeler news and finds this barely three weeks old interview with Necmi Karul almost seems a bit outdated - but still offers some really fascinating insight into this ongoing large-scale #Neolithic research project in Türkiye:

Long distance commuting lowers the well-being of students - and damages universities (student societies, attendance at lectures, community life)
'f this all sounds a bit peripheral, do have a look at this research from Dublin. It found a relationship between commute time and wellbeing, particularly for female students. For those with one-way commutes of 45 minutes or more, wellbeing was lower by 1.37 points on the WHO-5 scale.' 2/3

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 91:
In description, try not to use the most obvious word that suggests itself. Instead, find a word that makes the reader pay attention. That doesn't mean using your thesaurus to find the most unusual word you can: it means using a familiar word in an unusual context.
