A joy to watch the Advent Wreath being raised at York Minster today. It reminds us of the joy of Christ’s birth and his promised return. Thanks to the team of volunteer Flower Arrangers, whose skill and devotion each year creates this remarkable centrepiece.

White Ribbon Day marks the national campaign to engage men and boys in ending violence against women and girls. The theme of this year’s events is ‘We Speak Up!’ calling on more men to Speak Up to create a world where everyone is safe, equal, and respected.

Each year on #RemembranceDay, here at Bishopthorpe, we remember those who worked at the palace and gave their lives in the Great War. We gather to give thanks for their service and pray for peace. I hope you’ve had opportunity today to pause, pray and remember. #Lestweforget

On this Remembrance Sunday, a day for national remembrance, we pray for all those who have died in warfare and conflict, for all affected by war, and for all who witness and work for peace in our world today. #Lestweforget

It was so good to be in Bethlehem this morning, talking and praying with Palestinian Christians in the place of Christ’s birth. I give thanks for their faith, courage and steadfastness, and pray for justice and peace in the Holy Land.
